"Scarborough Secondary Goes Global: Virtual Learning Initiatives"
Scarborough Secondary School is breaking barriers with its innovative virtual learning programs. These initiatives are designed to provide students with access to global resources and experiences, ensuring they receive a world-class education right here in Tobago.
Using platforms like Google Classroom and the MySchool app, teachers have introduced virtual field trips, collaborative projects with schools abroad, and guest lectures from international experts. Recent highlights include a virtual tour of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and a joint science project with students in Canada.
“The world is our classroom,” says Geography teacher Mr. Alan Grant. “These experiences broaden our students’ horizons and prepare them for a globalized world.”
Students have embraced the opportunities with enthusiasm. “It’s amazing to work on projects with students from other countries,” says fourth-former Anya Wilson. “I’ve learned so much about different cultures and perspectives.”
The school’s virtual learning initiatives have also garnered attention from education leaders in the region. Plans are underway to expand the program, with potential partnerships in Europe and Asia. “We’re not just preparing our students for the future,” says Principal Jack. “We’re helping them create it.”
