"Gamification in the Classroom: Making Learning Fun Again"
Scarborough Secondary School is proving that learning can be both fun and effective by integrating gamification into its teaching methods. Teachers are using apps like Kahoot, Quizizz, and Classcraft to create engaging, game-based lessons that motivate students.
“Gamification taps into students’ competitive spirit and makes learning enjoyable,” says Mathematics teacher Mrs. Paula Singh. “It’s amazing to see their enthusiasm.”
Students earn points, badges, and rewards for completing assignments, participating in discussions, and achieving academic milestones. The approach has led to higher engagement and improved test scores, particularly in STEM subjects.
“I look forward to math class now,” says second-former Joshua Thomas. “It doesn’t feel like work anymore—it feels like play.”
